**Why do I have to pay a damage hold/waiver?**

When you reserve a stay with Kasa, we require a damage deposit as a form of assurance. This deposit acts as a safeguard against potential damages, losses, or incidental expenses that may occur during your stay. Requiring a damage hold is a common practice in the hospitality industry, designed to protect the property and ensure that it remains in excellent condition for other members of the Kasa community. This policy helps us maintain a high standard of quality and service for every guest.

**What is a $250 refundable damage hold?**

Kasa's $250 refundable damage hold is a precautionary measure that covers any potential damages or incidental costs that may arise during your stay. This deposit is not an additional charge, but rather a hold placed on your card, which will remain on your card for the duration of your stay, and is fully refundable after your departure, provided that the property is left in the same condition as when you arrived.  Depending on your length of stay, you may see the hold refreshed to ensure the hold remains active for the duration of the reservation. After you depart, we maintain the hold for an additional 48 hours to complete our post-stay checks. Due to your bank's processing requirements, your refund may take 5-10 business days to appear in your account.  If damage is identified, our team will reach out to advise you and inform you of the next steps. If you observe the hold has not been released within the 5-10 business day window after your departure, we recommend contacting your credit card or banking institution for assistance.

**What is a non-refundable damage waiver?**

To give our guests more flexibility and control over their experience, we also offer an additional option to the traditional damage hold. Instead of a larger $250 hold on your card throughout the duration of your stay, you can opt for a small, non-refundable damage waiver. This waiver is designed to cover minor damages up to $250, allowing you to enjoy your stay without the concern of a hold affecting your available funds. Please note that this charge is non-refundable and does not cover significant damages or intentional misuse of the property. Kasa expects all community members to treat the property with care and respect.

This process is a standard practice designed to protect both our guests and our properties. We're always here to make your Kasa experience as comfortable and hassle-free as possible, so please [reach out](https://kasa.com/get-help) if you need any assistance.
